  Wanted: Michigan HVAC Contractors:

Victory Over Unfair Electric Utility Competition:  Priceless!!!

The Benefit to You and Your Business:

All the customers & sales you won’t lose to unfair utility advantages!

Your Fair Share For This Victory:

                              $100 minimum contribution

(If every Michigan Contractor kicked in the sales amount from a couple service calls it could cover all the costs.)

Utilities have to stop subsidizing their HVAC service plans.  It’s not only the law, but now both Consumers Energy and Detroit Edison have been ‘busted’ for violating the code of conduct and have had to pay maximum fines.  As a result both companies are finally ending their unfair practices – including the most obvious unfair practice of sending advertisements with the electric bills.

Because your time is valuable let’s cut to the chase: it cost a lot of money to make this happen.   We’ve invested in seeing that the code of conduct was successfully implemented by the Michigan Public Service Commission, and we also successfully defended the code of conduct before the Michigan Court of Appeals, and the Michigan Supreme Court.   This was a HUGE and EXPENSIVE undertaking.   It was accomplished by contractors who volunteered hundreds of hours and contractor organizations that came together under the banner of the Michigan Alliance for Fair Competition (MAFC) through the help of lobbyists and attorneys.

Right now the MAFC needs your help to finish paying for the cost of successfully defending the code of conduct in the courts and implementing it through the Michigan Public Service Commission.  If every legitimate HVAC contractor would make a $100 donation it would take care of the cost to defend and implement the code of conduct.

“What Does this MAFC Victory Mean to Me?”

As an HVAC contractor you and your customers no longer have to open your electric bill and see advertisements for HVAC appliance repair service.  In 2001 before the code of conduct was implemented, just one utility was able to unfairly obtain $30 million annually in revenue for HVAC appliance repair service.  How many of the $100 service calls that make up that $30 million came from your company?  Are you willing do your fair share for not having to unfairly compete with an electric utility that used monthly ‘cost free’ advertising in the electric bill?

“Okay, How Do I Do My Part?”

Your “fair share” tax deductible contributions may be mailed to: Michigan Alliance for Fair Competition, 5025 W. Saginaw, Suite 7, Lansing, MI 48917. Please consider a donation equal to your revenue on just a couple of service calls (as a minimum) and help pay for protecting your interests and livelihood.

Thank you,

Phil Forner
